Police Informants Found Dead in Indiana River

On September 20, 2024, the bodies of Matthew Johnson (41) and Christina Dixon (40) were found in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Allen County Coroner’s Office ruled both deaths as homicides—Johnson died from a gunshot wound and stab wound, while Dixon was strangled and suffocated.

The Investigation

Dominique Washington, a 29-year-old man, has been charged with murder in connection to the case. Investigators believe Washington lured Johnson and Dixon into a vehicle on September 19, forced them to turn off their phones, and later switched vehicles before killing them. He is accused of disposing of their bodies in the river. Washington is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on charges including murder and kidnapping.

Controversy Surrounding Victims’ Status

There has been conflicting information about whether Johnson and Dixon were police informants:

  • Court documents from the Fort Wayne Police Department initially identified them as confidential informants who assisted in a recent drug raid, according to a Richmond Police Department detective.
  • However, the Richmond Police Department later denied this claim in a Facebook post, stating that Johnson and Dixon were not informants for their department.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation is ongoing, and police expect more arrests as the case develops. The Richmond Police Department expressed their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and their families, working closely with other agencies to hold all responsible parties accountable.
